The Meals on Wheels service is totally dependent on volunteers who deliver the meals on a purely voluntary basis and at their own expense. The Service is managed and co-ordinated by the staff of North Offaly Community Development Network CLG.

The client pays a portion of the food cost, currently subsidised rates are €3.50 or €5.00 per meal, as applicable.  For a specific number of clients, food costs are subsidised with funding provided by the HSE or Bord Na Mona, for which applications have to be submitted each year.  For all additional clients, we subsidise the food costs through our fundraising activities, with the support of people right across the community and far beyond, which we very much appreciate. 

The two-course, hot nutritional meal delivered daily, consists of a main course dinner, with either soup or dessert. All our meals are homemade locally each day, delivered on a dinner plate covered with a microwave cover and wrapped in tin foil. They are transported in insulated bags to ensure they are delivered hot and ready to eat. 

While many of our customers require an ongoing service, we also can deliver a meal on a temporary short term basis such as periods of illness, without a long term commitment.
